So... skimming through movies, dramas and anime episodes have now become my daily habit. I seriously need to finish some of them but I just can't be bothered to. And my recent download has been Crows Explode! *insert epic sfx here*
If you're friends with me on LJ because of my Tokyo23 subs, that-guy-that-plays-Noboru also acts in Crows Explode! Was his name Yagira something? pff
I'M A HUGE FAN OF CROWS BTW.more on my fangirling later.
*bear in mind I'm writing this post without the help of google fact-checking*
I'm assuming if you're seeing this post you must be entangled in the Japanese world of entertainment somehow, so I think most of you have already heard about Crows, most probably from the countless references mentioned here and there. BUT IF YOU DON'T... It's a manga series that was running in the... 90s... I think? About this school for delinquents called Suzuran, where the students are basically untamable and every student is like trying to "reach the top" and "control" Suzuran. And it *sort of* centers a bit on this crazy strong inhuman lone wolf Harumichi Bouya, who has like this blonde pompadour (that is what you call it right?).
The only adaptation or whatnot that I've seen is the first and second movie adaptation, which stars Shun Oguri as Takiya Genji ufufu. They're titled Crows Zero and Crows Zero 2 if I'm not mistaken. I think they're both super cool, check 'em ouuut~!
And correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it's set sometime before Harumichi shows up at Suzuran? I don't really get the timeline comparison between the movie adaptations and the manga... It gives me headaches trying to remember the detail...The latest movie, same universe, basically same school, a bunch of new characters, is called Crows Explode. It stars that-guy-who-plays-Domeki-in-the-xxxHolic-live-action-and-will-soon-be-Kou-in-the-Ao-Haru-Ride-live-action *issues, no google, sorry* and he's like this new student at Suzuran called Kaburagi Kazeo.

*basically some rather incoherent rant from here on out*
I would like to start with how I gotreally into Crows, LOL.
Three years ago, I had this huge crush on a senior in my school who just happens to also like Japanese culture. During our talks he sort of nonchalantly mentions that he watched Crows Zero the other day... So... Like the obsessive admirer that I was, I decided I'd go watch it, too. Back then I think I bought a DVD of it? I watched it, then just like that I fell in love with Crows and its epicness and manliness and badassedness.
Then I went to this bookstore in my town that, like, sells older mangas... And I found a few copies of Crows so I bought a whole bunch of them! Turns out the manga was WAAAAY more entertaining and I just became obsessed pfff. I have like ten physical volumes of Crows and the rest I have the scanlations kyahaha. I just finished reading them like 3-4 months ago... Pretty damn epic.
The manga isn't pretty looking at all. The characters are... as manly as they get hahahahaha... I guarantee you won't be able to find a sparkly ikemen in all the chapters of Crows haha. But even so, I love it. I love everything about it. It reeks of manliness and boys, but maaaaan maaaan maaan I just loveeeee it. It gives me goosebumps reading it! It's just ssoooo gooood.
Oh great now I'm just exaggerating
On Crows Explode...
KABURAGI KAZEO IS SO DAMN GOOD LOOKING MAN. His eyebrows are perfff <3 and he's badass as fuuuuck~I just realized I never swore that much on my LJ, I'm sorry, I actually swear a lot. I'm basically in love with his actor now, whoever his real name is... *oh google how I need you* SUPER LOOKING FORWARD TO AO HARU RIDE NOW <3 <3 HNG~
There are certain back stories in the movie that sort of reminded me of the manga.. Like the guy who was in juvie cause he tried to burn this other guy... I think that was in the manga somewhere, right? :/ There's so much shit going on in the manga that I've forgotten most of it other than the fact that they were all very epic. (I didn't forget the dangerers though! Parco and the dangerers ftw!or is that not what they're called? pf)
The scene in the public bath where they showed their butts was weird hahaaaaa... also, the yakuzas have tattoos all the way to their butts, it's kind of strange pf. That sort of left an impression in me pf... the dragon tattoos with the tails coiling around their buttcheeks lol PFFFFF I'M SORRY DON'T MIND ME~
That-guy-who-plays-Noboru is also very cool and badass here hahaha!~ I really like his acting~! Especially when he fought... The part where he got stabbed and just pulled the knife out wasssss... hng~ Awesomeeee...
SO MANLY HAHAHAHAHA
...I don't think anyone reads my rants this far...
I'm going to start reading Worst now hehe. Seems interesting ufufu. And maybe Rokudenashi Blues... and maybe continue About!! ><
You know what I want in a guy? Someone who'd watch movies like Crows with me and enjoy themself pf
Don't mind me lol

.

I really thought he was crying over Amarin in this scene lol
ISN'T GOMEN NE SEISHUN TOO MUCH?
I'm not saying it's a bad thing, it's not a bad thing at all! It's like... they give you more than you ask for!! WAAAAY more than what you ask for...

So many good looking peeps in this drama, btw
I'm as shallow as usualI expected it to be a shallow comedy drama thing without too many interesting things happening, and definitely not this many love relationships! IT'S SO GUT WRENCHINGGGGG. Especially since I'm not exactly keen on movies with love triangles... This shit even has love squares in it LOL.

Didn't expect Cosme to be in it, though lol
ALSOOOOOO I don't really want Amarin and Ebisawa to separate :c Nuuuuu~ I have a feeling he might end up with Jinbou though... And Nakai (is that her name?) seems like she'll end up liking Hara-sensei...

Nuuu~ Amarin~ Resist the temptatioooon~!
*sigh*
It's been a super long time since I last watched a drama with love triangles... I can't stand themmm...
But it doesn't seem like I'll stop watching Gomen ne Seishun anytime soon lol.
OH RIGHT! Isn't the guy that plays Handa in Gomen ne Seishun (the student council president of Tonkou) the guy that plays the gym teacher in Great Teacher Onizuka?!? So wieeerd NOPE

I'M A HUGE FAN OF CROWS BTW.

I ship them

The charisma of the characters, I think, is PERFECTLY portrayed. Hng~

WHAM. Failed capture...
I've only watched like three quarters of the movie, so I don't know how the story concludes... Which is why I won't talk about the story. Instead, I shall fangirl like a maniac.*basically some rather incoherent rant from here on out*
