Date: 2014-09-17 07:52 pm (UTC)I loved that movie and looked what else was available English subbed and discovered "Honey and Clover" - Sakurai Sho. This lead me to Arashi and so I discovered Kazunari Ninomiya which I rank amongst the best Japanese actors up until today!
Thus I came to J-Doramas and I was really surprised how MANY really handsome AND talented actors Japan has to offer. Contrary to you I never was much of an Anime-buff, although I also love the really good ones, like those by Shinkai Makoto ("5 cm per second" is my favorite but also some Ghiblies like "Whisper of the heart" and "From up on poppy hill" - and I also love "Brave world").
It´s really too bad Kauan doesn´t get an episode in GTO now - which somehow means the series has to be continued until he get´s one - so let´s vote for another season!!!
Ah, Fukushi Sota is also a real cutie and he seems to be quite ambitious as an actor (he will be in an Takeshi Miike-movie soon). I also enjoyed him in YOWAKUTEMO KATEMASU (Kazunari Ninomiya, Yamazaki Kento and Hongo Kanata as well, of course!), but I LOVED his movie ENOSHIMA PRISM - have you watched that? If not and you like Sota, you MUST watch that. As for "Sukitte Ii na Yo" - I haven´t found that English subbed and in good quality yet anywhere. If you have a source that`ll be highly welcome.
L-DK seems to be a cinematic movie and not yet out anywhere subbed!? I watched the trailer right now and yes, that would most probably a movie I´d like to watch - and Yamazaki Kento with even longer hair looks really cute as well. Hm, you don´t like SUIKYUU YANKEE? Why? I think Kento looks better in it as in YOWAKUTEMO and his character is more interesting. And as I said, I love Yoshizawa Ryo and Chiba Yudai ^-^. That Baka-trio is gorgeous!
But yeah, Kishi Yutas eyes are a phenomenon. As I said, he could get anything from me, throwing those eyes… Ah, so your birthday comes up in 12 days? ^-^.
I really hope he´ll be in more doramas to come ^-^.
Do you still watch Doramas only randomly , or do you think this will increase from now on?
By the way - could you grant me access to your LJ community - yesterday I tried a link for some reason (I guess checking the subs, as I regularly do) - and access was denied. I certainly follow your rules, don´t worry!
Regarding your question about SHARK: I would recommend to watch season 1 first and season 2 only after you´ve seen season 1. Basically both seasons tell a different story about two different bands, but a few characters appear in both seasons and their story is better understood if you watch them in the correct order. And both seasons are worthwhile watching. The first has a weaker story but lives from a really strong performance of Hirano Sho - he is really some character! ^-^. The second season has basically the better story and the actors do a good job as well (though not on the same level as Hirano´s), but the script would have needed more speed and climaxes - one could have made that season even better, if the script would have been better.
Another dorama I really liked was "49" - also subbed by Arisu-sub. Highly entertaining as well. And if you like police stories with occasional comedy in it, you absolutely should watch BITTER BLOOD from the spring season 2014. Sato Takeru was gorgeous in it, such an adorable character, constantly bickering with his father, he had to work with surprisingly. I really enjoyed that!
And if you like something thrilling, wicked and excellent performances, you should watch KAZOKU GAME. Sakurai Sho´s doramas are often a little boring, but not this one - he gives the performance of his live and his opponent is the ever excellent Kamiki Ryonosuke - they fight to the bones here. Excellent performances!
