Rejoice! For I've finally finished subbing this thing.

After much thought, and after the rendora announcement I've finally decided to share my Last Cop subs that I've been working on since god knows when but never finished.
---

---

---
This is very important so please note that from the second episode onwards I don't have any Japanese subtitles to use as a base both for timing and translations, so I will be doing it by ear which means less accuracy and information. The rest isn't going to be nowhere near as good as Wild Heroes was cause I used a Japanese subtitle for that, but I hope it'll at least help some people watch the drama.
Also, if any other subber decides to pick this up, I'll be dropping it.
---
Please share this to anyone that's interested in seeing this drama! It's a good one, I swear! Feel free to share them on social media, your community, your livejournal, everywhere! BUT pleaase link back to this post and not share a direct link! Sharing is caring! Let's have everyone enjoy the charms of Last Cop before the rendora comes out~

I know I said I used Japanese subtitles as a base, but I retimed the entire thing cause as you might know the timing of Japanese subs are kinda awkward sometimes. Unlike my Wild Heroes subtitle where I just shifted the times when necessary, I did this one one-by-one, per-dialogue, from scratch.

It took me ages.

Not to mention the entire thing was like an hour and a half long... So spare me for using adfly on the softsubs. This is the first reason why I decided to use it, and second, it's because I find that subs for dramas and movies are more often stolen than subs for variety shows.

I'll upload hardsubs tomorrow for those of you who don't have the raws, so just leave a comment if you're waiting for it so I'll notify you when I have it up.

This entire post is nothing but excuses and my overall selfish shittiness, but here's one more thing: my translations are definitely not 100% accurate and I made a shit-ton of grammar mistakes and typos, now that I watch it back, I missed a lot of "-ed" and "-d" *cries*.

And and and I might have missed the on-screen texts and things cause I didn't beta nor QC this he he he he. Don't kill me.

Translation notes:

  • Kyougoku mishears/misunderstands a lot of newly coined terms, including mistaking: sekuhara (sexual harassment) for Sekigahara, konpuraiansu ihan (violation of compliance) for kongurai no pantsu ihan (this much panties violation), onsei gaidansu (audio guidance) for onsen gaijin dansu (foreign onsen dance). There's probably some more that I forgot, if you find anything weird it's probably something to do with this joke.

  • At the part where they're in the park, the youngsters say "Yabai-ssu ne" which means something like "That's bad" in a good way (which I translated to "That's sick"), I'm assuming it's also a newly coined slang cause Kyougoku took it literally then said that it wasn't "yabai", but it was "ikasu", which is an older slang for cool. I think? Lol.

  • Urashima Tarou is a Japanese folklore character, a fisherman that's rewarded a visit to the Dragon God's palace for saving a turtle. When he came back to his village, he found that he was 300 years in the future.

  • Beat Takeshi, real name Takeshi Kitano, started out as a comedian in the duo Two Beat, then he went solo. Comaneci is one of his signature gags. He's now known both in Japan and abroad as a promising film director.

  • Onyanko Club is like the 80's AKB or MomoClo, they're a female idol group.

  • Sawada Kenji is a Japanese artist.

  • Michael J. Fox is... Michael J. Fox, haha. The Canadian-American actor. Kyougoku probably really liked him cause Back To The Future was booming in the 80s, I guess?

  • Before I forget, I don't know police ranks, lol. And I didn't know how to translate Suzuki's rank so I just went with Chief which is probably super vague and inaccurate.

  • The phrase goes "Jinsei wa yama ari tani ari" (Life has mountains/ups and valleys/downs), but Kyougoku said, "Jinsei wa yama ari tani ari Muhammad Ali" (Life has ups and downs and Muhammad Ali). It rhymes.

  • If you downloaded my earlier subs, you'll see I wrote Caesar instead of Shisa, cause I didn't see the on-screen text, like I said, haha.

  • Saito Yuki starred in the 1985 live action drama, Sukeban Deka (Delinquent Detective) as the first Sukeban Deka, Asamiya Saki. It's about a delinquent school girl who works for the government and fights crime... I think. Her weapon is a metal yoyo.

Raws are timed to the [NOP] Clean screen raws from nyaa. Notify me if you have other raws.

Don't reupload, redistribute, modify, or retranslate without permission!
And leave a comment if you're taking, makes me feel appreciated and that someone actually watches and uses my subs haha.

Hardsubs on this post (f-locked)
---
Sorry for the large hardsub size, I'm a noob at encoding. Also, I'll be moving the hardsubs over to a locked post after a week for safety purposes, but this entry will stay open.

Hopefully the next few episodes won't come too far in the future.
Also tiny announcement, we're picking Night Hero Naoto up over at [livejournal.com profile] ldh_subs and I'll be working on that, too. They'll probably take turns in updating hahaha. Sorry for those of you looking forward to the variety shows.
