i went to see no game no life
Thoughts on No Game, No Life the Movie: Zero (spoiler free!) and why i've been gone for a month.

I went to see the new movie yesterday with a friend from fb, it was so nice to not watch things alone for a change, haha. I think I've probably mentioned it on FB and on twitter but ever since my RL anime/Japanese/superhero movie fan left for Uni abroad I've been watching most movies on my own. Due to anxiety of not wanting to ask other people out and partly cause I can't be bothered to match paces and find a good time. But yesterday I posted a status and FB on a whim and tadaaa turns out a senpai was free and he kindly went with me huehue. Progress.
Anyways. The movie.
If you haven't seen No Game No Life (the anime), my half-assed synopsis would be that there are these two gaming geniuses Sora and Shiro (who aren't blood related siblings, lol, remember this it's important(GIgguk reference)) get sent into this alternate world/dimension where everything is settled with games and the rules are absolute. Then they end up leading a country and fighting other countries and whatnot. Google it and watch it if you're interested, haha.
The movie, however, is a prequel set before the formation of the "commandments" and the regions/countries in Disboard (the universe). The main characters are Riku (Sora equivalent) and Shuvi (Shiro equivalent). They even have the same seiyuu's and similar color hair, but switched around.
The movie turned out to be more of a romantic chick flick than I expected but it was really good. Cause I came in expecting shameless and excessive fanservice like they had in the anime but the movie was definitely more toned down, which is AWESOME. Plot-wise I thought it was kind of complicated and there were so info you gotta pay attention to and what's going on and who's who and what's what. If you're into that kind of thing like me though, it's quite intriguing.
One thing I would say that the friend I watched with pointed out was that it didn't really give an intro to the world and or the people living in it, so if you've never watched the anime you might have to blindly try and understand most of the settings at first.
It was very sweet with lots of cool fighting scenes and the signature pops of colors you'd expect from NGNL. Also if you've watched the anime you'll definitely notice some things and some characters and it's awesome to see how much they've changed through the years.
There were heartbreaking moments, epic fights, and some light jokes here and there.
All in all, I suck at describing things but I tried my best to do this without spoilers. I'd rate this 8/10 probably.
It's up there with Kimi no Na wa and Koe no Katachi for me. As for like anime movies the only other one I've seen in the movies is Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale and that crap ain't got shit on this so there's no competition there pffft.
If you can see it in the movies go see it. But if you can't I'm sure it'll pop up soon enough. I doubt it'd make as much of a difference like with Kimi no Na wa's graphics.
So... I haven't posted anything in a month. There was a slump going on in my life somewhere from last September to the beginning of October... I even went off twitter for a while, which I never do.
I actually did work on some subs but I just never finished any of them. I kept starting new projects without finishing the older ones. Some stuff just look more interesting than the others.
Anyways in the second week of October I got into a car accident on my way to Uni so I was hospitalized for a day for tests and scans. Thankfully nothing was wrong so I went home the next day. I was fine, everyone involved was fine, just scratches and bruises in some places the airbag hit me, but I was very tired mentally so I just spent the whole week doing nothing at home since I got a permission slip to miss classes, anyway.
After I got better I just never really got back into a productive mood (and kind of still really haven't yet?) so I didn't end up releasing anything for a month. Then this week I had midterms until Wednesday and after those were done I just wanted to not think about things so I watched a bunch of anime and youtube.
Still am.
Well, that was a short and sort of unnecessary update for you, haha. Hopefully I don't stay like this for long cause I haaate being so unproductive but I'm rarely productive (so i hate myself most of the time HAHA nah jk).
